JASBER(JAva
Shared BrowsER)
JASBER is an applet that works as a client, communicating with the JETS server. Once
the applet web page is loaded, a client/server connection will be established after
which the user can open up a shared browser by clicking on a button located on the applet.
Once the shared browser is opened, any change made in the HTML content of that browser
(ie., changing URL) will result in an update in the HTML content of the other shared
browsers that are communicating with the same server.

 | The following features are available:
Whenever a user loads a new web page by typing a new web site address (URL) in the address
field of the shared browser, the Applet will detect that and sends the new web page
address to the server, which will broadcast it to all clients. As a result all shared
browsers that are connected to the server will load the new web page.
Whenever the user clicks on a link, and as a result changes the current web page, all
other shared browsers will be informed and load the new web page.
If the users action causes a change of web page address in one or more
frames that belong to a shared web page, then the Applet will detect that and
update the changed frame(s) in all other shared browsers.
|
 | JASBER is easy to use. It involves the following three steps:
Step 1: Open a Netscape browser and type in the web page address of JASBER.
Step 2: Click on the Click Here To Open A Shared Browser button inside the
applet. A new Netscape browser will be opened.
Step 3: Navigate through the shared browser by either typing new web page addresses inside
the text field or clicking on a link. Any change in the shared browser will cause an
update in the content of all other browsers.
|
JASBER can work independently or as a part of the JETS 2000
toolkit.
